Croutons – Using Leftovers

Croutons – Using Leftovers

I’m not sure this is worthy of a recipe, but it is one of the easiest and a very delicious way of using leftover bread.

I buy/make sourdough, and if it is starting to go a bit hard then this is one option for how to save it and turn it into something very good!

Enjoy!

Croutons

Ingredients

Bread, slightly hard bread is fine

Olive oil

Sea salt

Method

  • Cut the bread into cubes or tear roughly.
  • Preheat the oven to 160c (fan) and place the bread on a baking tray. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle on a little salt and bake until lightly golden and crisp. Check after 4 minutes but it might take 8-10 minutes. turn halfway if some parts are browning quickly.
  • Leave to cool and enjoy, or store in an airtight container for up to a few weeks. They are great in soup, on salads or anything that would benefit from a little crunch!
